We are committed to providing a workplace where mental health is not a taboo subject, but accepted as a normal part of all of our lives, just as physical health is. We spend a lot of our time at work with our colleagues, so we want everyone to feel safe to raise mental-health issues and ask for help when needed. We also want to ensure we are equipped to support one another.
We believe in a workplace where everyone can be happy, and it’s our collective responsibility to create a thriving workplace. At the Jamie Oliver Group, we work strategically and continuously to support our employees’ mental health and wellbeing while they are with us. At the Jamie Oliver Group, we are committed to:
Mental health doesn’t just exist when it’s low – we all have a mental health that we need to take care of. And it can change, just as our physical health does, so our work is never done. We are always looking at how we can best support our staff to adapt to the changes and challenges of modern life.
We host regular training, workshops and guest speakers for all employees, aimed at making us all more confident in speaking about mental health. In fact, every new employee is enrolled onto mental health training within six months of joining the business, to ensure we are all on the same page for these discussions, and our business is a safe space for all.
We have an Employee Assistance Programme, which is a free 24/7 phoneline that all staff and their immediate family can use. In addition, we offer company-paid counselling services where needed.
We’ve built in a wellbeing conversation as part of our quarterly catch-ups between managers and employees to aid discussions around mental health. We also run regular surveys on employee engagement and wellbeing, and take action where we can improve.
Many things contribute to an individual's mental health, so we provide health and fitness initiatives to all employees, as well as financial advice drop-in clinics.
